AS THE WEATHER HEATS UP, DONT LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOUR LAWN!

As summer approaches, maintaining lawn appearance is a priority. One frequent issue during warmer months is "burnt" or brown grass patches, often due to insufficient or uneven watering linked to irrigation system performance. A properly functioning irrigation system is essential for a healthy lawn, especially in summer. This is because:

  • Consistent Hydration: A well-maintained system ensures the entire lawn receives the appropriate amount of water, preventing dry spots and promoting healthy root growth.
  • Preventing Dry Spots: Brown patches often indicate under-watering or uneven coverage. Adjusting sprinkler heads, cleaning clogged nozzles, and ensuring proper pressure can resolve these issues.
  • Encouraging Deep Roots: Deep, less frequent watering encourages deeper grass roots, making the lawn more resilient to heat and drought.
  • Avoiding Overwatering: A properly programmed and functioning system helps prevent overwatering, which can lead to fungal diseases and other lawn problems.
  • Long-Term Lawn Health: Addressing irrigation issues proactively invests in the long-term health and vitality of the lawn.

How I can help you to Prevent Burnt Grass:

  • By ensuring your Irrigation System Working Properly:
    • Check for leaks, clogs, or broken sprinkler heads.
    • Adjust sprinkler heads for optimal coverage, ensuring "head to head coverage" to prevent gaps.
    • Set the timer for early morning watering to minimize evaporation. I recommend around 5AM. If you see your grass or plantings starting to dry out I would recommend a second watering around 3PM. You do not want to water to late, which could allow you grass or plantings to develop mold.
  • Water Appropriately: Water deeply and infrequently to encourage deep root growth.
  • Monitor the Lawn: Look for signs of stress, such as brown patches or dry spots.
  • Irrigation system maintenance and repair services are offered to ensure systems run smoothly and efficiently. Identifying and addressing issues helps lawns receive necessary hydration for a green and healthy appearance throughout the summer.
